STINKING LIZAVETA "P.K. Party" (7")

Yes, the name is sort of goofy. but Philadelphia's Stinking Lizaveta follows
in the proud tradition of feisty, instrumental math rock bands like Don
Caballero and Breadwinner, melding prog-rock sensibilities with balls-to-the-wall.
brain shattering punk. Rather than presenting its songs as deconstructed
bits, however, Stinking Lizaveta creates compositions you can rock out
to without having to study time signatures. Still, all the obligatory
checkpoints are made with ease: tastefully metallic guitars, check;, recorded
with Steve Albini, check; precision playing that would make Robert Fripp
envious, check. Throw in a little Zeppelin-sih blues guitar swagger and
an upright electric bass, and you are prepared for take-off.
